Yesterday, I saw a new hospice patient. I’ve been a hospice massage therapist for almost five years, and I have a master’s degree in Holistic Health Studies. My new patient, whom I will call April, is an 82 years old woman who lives in a nursing home. She is wheelchair-bound and has severe dementia. When I asked her how she was feeling, she said that she’s confused. Her eyes teared up a little as she briefly looked at me. I held her hand and said, “Better days are ahead.”
I hold true to my words – better days are ahead. Everything in life is impermanent. My patient’s condition is a temporary experience as a human being. And you have a choice – you can see bright days or gloomy days. The hope in your heart needs to be nourished – like planting seeds for the future.
The Coronavirus is also a temporary experience. Bring your weary soul to the sun. See that the sun has a promise – to rise every morning. You, too, must get up every morning with hope and love in your heart. Never give up – like the sun.
Courage is not having the strength to go on; it is going on when you don’t have the strength. ~ Theodore Roosevelt
