Zombies

I have a new term I call people who are always on their phone or computer – Zombies. These zombies can’t put their phones down or are on their computers for hours. It’s easy to get hooked on self-gratification.

Do not trust a zombie! They are brainwashed!

One of the definitions of a zombie is someone who looks or behaves like an automaton. Automation is a condition of being automatically controlled or operated.

Unfortunately, the people behind the Internet know about addiction and hypnosis. So, the Internet controls people’s minds and limits free-will imagination. It’s called the “World Wide Web” for a reason. The web wants to catch you and wrap you around its pinky finger.

Use the Internet wisely – and that is the key. Everyone must use technology wisely and watch their screen time. Use the Internet as a resource – not for entertainment..

Like everything in life, there are positives and negatives to the Internet. However, the Internet will become more intelligent over time.

Technology will only get more advanced and more engaging. It will be able to understand each individual and entice them to stay on the Internet longer.

Also, the searches on the Internet may get more harmful to the viewer. For example, I looked up Halloween costumes a few days ago. As I scrolled down, the images became more sexual and graphic.

Algorithms are a problem too. For example, search algorithms decide which results should appear and try to personalize each user’s content.

A study from Facebook’s data team shows that algorithmic changes to the news feed could manipulate users’ feelings without their knowledge. As a result, some sociologists worry that algorithms function as a form of “social control.” Pretty scary stuff!

I am worried about humanity. I hope people wake up and realize the Internet is turning into a control machine. I also worry about how the Internet is affecting children and their developing brains.

I am sending out a strict warning! Be careful on the Internet! Stay away from spending hours on the Internet each day. The truth is the Internet distracts us from our spiritual work.

Namaste.
